The Shabbat between Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur is called Shabbat Shuva or Shabbat Teshuvah, the Sabbath of Return or alternatively Repentance. The widespread custom is for the Rav to address his congregation this Shabbat (See Mateh Efriam 602:41, Rav Schulchan Aruch, Orach Chaim 429:4) Further it is interesting that the content of this speech has changed over time.Apparently on the Shabbat prior to Yom Kippur the Rabbi would discuss the applicable laws for the Succot holiday which closely...
