INSIGHT: Contesting the patriarchal views that prejudice jewish women
“NDINGUYIHLO ( am your father)!” My aunt Intle Freda Buyaphi used to remind me at critical times in our family. She never said “ am like a father to you as your dadobawo (aunt)”. No, she was my “father” without whom no ritual of mine – customary, cultural or spiritual – could proceed.
