"Whoever divorces his wife and marries another commits adultery against her, and if she divorces her husband and marries another, she commits adultery." (Mark 10:11-12)Could these really be the words of the Lord Jesus? And was this really good text to work from on the happy occasion of a baptism at Holy Trinity? Such Biblical passages can be useful ammunition to those who like to put the boot into vulnerable people - slaves, gays, jewish women, etc. - but is this a legitimate use of the Bible, and is there more to this text than meets the eye?
